Investors
Wasatch has been funded through product sales, angel equity investment, State of Utah commercialization grants, and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grants. Wasatch’s early R&D efforts were funded through the Center of Excellence Program (COEP), administered by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development of the State of Utah. From 2004-2007, the COEP provided funding to Dr. Bruce Gale for technology development of the CFM, which was conducted in his laboratory at the University of Utah. Wasatch also received a VIP grant for technology development in 2006 from the Technology Commercialization Office at the University of Utah. In May 2005, Wasatch received a cash prize for taking first place in the University of Utah statewide business plan competition administered by the Pierre Lassonde Entrepreneur Center at the David Eccles School of Business.
In late 2007 Wasatch closed its first round of equity funding with two local angel investment groups, the Salt Lake Life Science Angels and the Utah Angels.
Since mid-2008 Wasatch has received four Phase I SBIR awards through the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
